Joshua 13: The unconquered areas are described as:
- The regions of the Philistines and Geshurites, from the Shihor River on the east of Egypt, to Ekron in the north
- The territory of Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath and Ekron
- Arah of the Sidonians as far as Aphek
- Gebal (ie Byblos)
- Lebanon from Mount Hermon to Lebo Hamath
- Geshur and Maacah in transJordan
Joshua 15: Judah failed to dislodge the Jebusites living in Jerusalem.
Joshua 16: Ephraim failed to dislodge the Canaanites living in Gezer.
Joshua 17: Manasseh failed to ocupy Bethshan, Ibleam, the people of Dor, Endor, Taanach and Megiddo, together with their surrounding settlements.
Joshua 19: The Danites had difficulty taking Aijalon, Ekron etc with the area facing Joppa, and eventually gave up and moved north.
Judges 1: The unconquered areas are described as:
- v.18 Judah captured (Hebrew) failed to capture (Septuagint) Gaza, Ashkelon and Ekron. v. 19 Judah captured the hill country but failed to capture the plains because of chariots.
- v. 21 Benjamites failed to dislodge the Jebusites living in Jerusalem
- v. 27 Manasseh failed to drive out the people of Beth Shan, Taanach, Dor, Ibleam and Megiddo
- v. 29 Ephraim did not drive out the Canaanites of Gezer
- v. 30 Zebulun did not drive out the Canaanites of Kitron or Nahaloth
- v. 31 Asher did not drive out the Canaanites of Acco, Sidon, Ahlab, Aczib, Helbah, Aphek or Rehob
- v. 33 Naphtali did not drive out the Canaanites of Beth Shemesh or Beth Anath
- v. 34 The Danites were confined to the hill country by the coastal plain Amorites, who also held out in Mount Heres, Aijalon, and Shaalbim
