Genesis 14:13-24 - Abram and Malkiy-tsedeqAnd one came, a fugitive, and explained to Abram the ‘Ibriy, and he was settled among the oak trees of Mamre the Emoriy, brother of Eshkol and brother of ‘Aner, and they were lords in covenant with Abram. Then Abram heard that taken captive was his brother, and he led out his trained men born in his house, eighteen and three hundred, and he pursued as far as Dan.
So he divided them at night, he and his servants, and he struck them and he pursued them as far as Chobah, which is north of Dammaseq, and he returned with all the goods. So also Lot his brother and his goods he brought back, and even the women and the kindred.
Then came the king of edom to speak publicly to him, after his return from the strike against Kedorla'omer and the kings who were with him, to the Valley Shaweh, also called the Valley of Kings, and Malki-tsedeq, king of Shalem, brought out bread and wine, and he was priest of El Elyon, and he blessed him, saying,
“Blessed is Abram to El ‘Elyon,
creator of the skies and the earth.
And blessed is El ‘Elyon
who has delivered up your enemies into your hand.”
And he gave to him a tenth part of the whole.
Then the king of edom said to Abram,
“Give to me the living, but the goods, take for yourself”.
But Abram said to the king of edom,
“I raised my hand to Yahweh El ‘Elyon, creator of the skies and the earth: surely nothing, from a thread to the thong of a sandal, I will take from all that is yours, and never shall you say, ‘It was I enriched Abram’. Except for the little which the young men have eaten, and the division for the men who came with me - ‘Aner, Eshkol and Mamre - these men, let them take their division”.
