An intercession of Mosheh the man of Elohim. Adonay, you have been a dwelling-place for us for generation after generation - |
tephillâh lemôsheh ’îysh-hâ’elôhîym ’adônây mâ‘ôwn ’attâh hâyaythâ lânû bedôr wâdôr |

even before the mountains were born and you laboured over the land and the countryside - from everlasting to everlasting are you, El. |
beterem hârîym yullâdû watechôwlêl ’erets wethêbêl ûmê‘ôwlâm ‘ad-‘ôwlâm ’attâh ’êl |
3. |
You return a man to shards saying, “Return, sons of Adam”, |
tâshêb ’enôwsh ‘ad-dakhâ’ wattô’mer shûbû benêy-’âdâm |
4. |
for a thousand years in your eyes are like yesterday that passes by, or a watch kept at night. |
kîy ’eleph shânîym be‘êyneykhâ keyôwm ’ethmôwl kîy ya‘abôr we’ashmûrâh ballâylâh |
5. |
You wash them away; let them sleep, in the morning passing away like the grass - |
zeramtâm shênâh yiheyû babôqer kechâtsîyr yachalôph |
6. |
in the morning it blossoms and sprouts, by the evening it fades and withers. |
babôqer yâtsîyts wechâlâph lâ‘ereb yemôwlêl weyâbêsh |
7. |
For we are spent by your anger, and by your hot rage dismayed - |
kîy-kâlîynû be’apekhâ ûbachamâthekhâ nibhâlenû |
8. |
you have set our misdeeds before you, our concealments in the outshining of your face - |
shâtâ ‘awônôthêynû lenenedekhâ ‘alumênû lim’ôr pânâykhâ |
9. |
surely all our days we decline at your fury and we expend our years like a sigh. |
kîy kol-yâmêynû pânû be‘ebrâthekhâ killîynû shânîynû kemôw-hegeh |
10. |
The days of our years - in them are seventy years, or perhaps with strength, eighty years - even their pride is trouble and sorrow for it passes swiftly over and has flown away. |
yemêy-shenôwthêynû bâhem shib‘îym shânâh we’im bigbûrôth shemôwnîym shânâh werâhbâm ‘âmâl wâ’âwen kîy-gâz chîysh wannâ‘uphâh |
11. |
Who can comprehend the fierceness of your anger? and your fury is as your terror. |
mîy-yôwdêah ‘ôz ’aphekhâ ûkeyir’âthekhâ ‘eberâthekhâ |
12. |
So teach us to be counting our days and may a heart of wisdom be gained. |
limnôwth yâmêynû kên hôwda‘ wenâbi’ lebab chokhmâh |
13. |
Return, Yahweh, to your people, and have compassion toward your servants. |
shûbâh YHVH ‘ad-mâthây wehinnâchem ‘ad-‘abâdeykhâ |
14. |
May your kindness satisfy us in the morning and may a cry of joy and gladness be in all our days. |
sab‘ênû baboqer chaçedekhâ ûnerannenâh wenismechâh bekol-yâmêynû |
15. |
Gladden us to match the days of our affliction, the years when we saw misery. |
sammechênû kîymôwth ‘innîythânû shenôwth râ’îynû ra‘âh |
16. |
May your work for your servants be evident, and your splendour upon their children. |
yêrâ’eh ’el-‘abâdeykhâ pâ‘alekhâ wahadârekhâ ‘al-benêyhem |
17. |
May the delightfulness of Adonay our Elohim approach us, and make firm the work of our hands for us, and make firm for us the work of our hands. |
